Sprout was an idea I came up with for my senior year animation class final. I wanted to mix some branding into this animation project and create an app, which is how Sprout came to be. My grandmother loves to garden, so this is where Sprout’s gardening aspect came from. I also thought a gardening social media app was an unfilled niche.
The animation was made with the intent of highlighting the key features of the app that I brainstormed. It was anticipated to be viewed on a phone, hence the aspect ratio. Animation-wise, I wanted to focus on transitions, character movement, and screen movement.
All illustrations in the video were created by me. I went for a geometric and minimalistic style that a lot of modern day apps now use for small graphics in their apps. I also believe it gives the app a more inviting feeling. In order to create a more consistent branding for my idea, I went about creating a few UI designs and an app icon.
